Sometimes we go through our daily lives in a fashion akin to passing motion, uneventful and i definitely wouldn't say filled with gratification (unless of course you are some nut who lives for your morning crap). It's just the way it has been for most of us. We don't live to seek out gratifying experiences on a daily basis; we do what has to be done. but when something really nice or touching comes your way, it just feels that much more meaningful.
While talking to my mum over the phone an interesting subject popped up. as usual the mums' gossip network has been running at full tilt. and my mum told me that while chatting with the mum of one of my childhood friends, my friends mum told my mum that I was the subject of my friend's college application essay.
I didn't know what to say. i mean besides feeling honoured, i'm really surprised because i had no idea that whatever i did had any impact on a person's life, let alone one of my best friends. I guess it's nice to be recognized for your deeds and efforts, it's really a sweet experience. Just a simple thanks or a smile, especially when you're not expecting any genuine, sincere hospitality, can make your day. And it pays to be nice once in a while, to tell the people who really mean something to you that they matter.
I'm gonna start by giving my parents a call, to tell them that how much they mean to me. well i think that's way overdue now, but hey... it's better late than never right?
