hmm, tomorrow shall be the day that i officially get my stamp of approval from uncle sam's government that lets me legally study in the US of A
now the thing i'm a little worried about is the visa interview. i've already got the paperwork all sorted out, but somehow the idea of a visa interview irks me. partially because i've never had a visa interview before, and partially because i'll be inside uncle sam's embassy with those beastly looking armed guards.
i wonder what they'll ask me. no matter. erm... i hereby promise, with all my heart, that:
♣ i will not binge drink excessively while in the states
♣ no partying shall commence until thursday night
♣ partying will continue till no later than monday night
♣ i will not knock up random gals for no good reason
♣ i will not go on a rampage under any circumstances while drunk
♣ plastered-to-the-wall drinking shall only be reserved for after mid-terms and finals
♣ i will not attempt to commandeer any vehicle bigger than a bus while under the influence of alcohol
♣ i will not wet myself or vomit on someone else's couch/carpet
♣ i will not be a public nuisance on weekdays
♣ i vow to have nothing but the utmost respect for your national symbol - budweiser
there you go - my 10 commandments. now uncle sam, will you let me pass please?

Well, here we are once again, that time of the year the shamrocks take to the lime-light (pardon the pun), when no matter who you are, where you are in the world and what creed you were born into, everyone can feel proud to be an irish!
and not surprisingly i've always had a thing for Éire, not just because it's a proud and noble rugby worshiping nation, with players whom i revere greatly, such as brian o'driscoll and ronan o'gara. more so, you simply cannot talk about ireland without throwing a "guinness" into a sentence (it would be akin to eating a plate of chicken rice without the chicken). that thick black liquid gold with the signature luscious layer of rich froth in that signature half-hourglass shaped pint glass, i say "ahoy!"

it's become more than just a brand of beer around the world, it can proudly be termed an institution in its own right. it has spawned household names such as the guinness world records, and even more strangely it's been inducted into quite a few dictionaries and made a proper noun. such is the allure of this godly good stuff.
and most of all it inspires unwavering passion, even if it's just a seemingly random bar brawl somewhere in dublin incited over a pint of guinness, or the tens of thousands of guinness wielding, rugby loving pub champions who would turn up at Landsdowne Road to watch their home team battle it out with their age old rivals - the english, scotts and the welsh.
so, here's a most sincere salute to the irish - you give the world a reason to be proud and not give a shit, even if it's just 1 day of the year.
p.s. ireland is playing england tomorrow (btw england is without wilkinson)! keep your fingers crossed. LUCK O' THE IRISH!

Have you ever wished a beer would not smell so... vulgar?
Have you ever wished a beer smelt rather... sweet?
Have you ever wished a beer would smell like raspberry jam?
Then... Here's your bloody answer! It's called Little Creatures Pale Ale and it's from Australia. Now don't be put off by the whacky name or Australian make because it smells really good! I'm no beer snob, in fact i don't really give a hoot what beer i'm drinking, as long as it taste like beer. but i gotta hand it down to them for making such an interesting product.
Apparently it's these little creatures that are doing the job. They're called hops, some kinda flower thing, different from the conventional malt used in beer brewing.
Though i must say it is quite an interesting plant to use...
- Perennial flowering vine that grows up to 5-6m high
- Hops were first used as a medicinal herb in Egypt
- Hops are a member of the cannabis family!!!
Next thing you know someone will start making beer out of weed (marijuana aka cannabis...), and I'm certain that will surely make many North American (and especially Dutch) people stoned-happy. It's like killing two national addictions (pastimes) with one magic elixir.
And here is proof that i'm not bullshitting:
"Marijuana is the top cash crop in the US, a report released on Monday says.
It says that despite intensive eradication plans, $35bn (£18bn) worth of the illegal drug is produced a year - more than corn and wheat combined.
The study was prepared by Jon Gettman, a public policy analyst who advocates reform of US marijuana laws."

Anyways coming back to Little Creatures, i think the beer isn't available anywhere else other than Australia, and I was given a six pack as a present. down to the last five now. i still can't believe it, IT SMELLS LIKE RASPBERRY JAM!
