i went with my dad to his office today, in a sort of bring-your-kids-to-work fashion, except all the other people didn't have their kids.

it was the summer break in the uni anyways so it was pretty deserted. went around looking at various labs with some pretty awesome looking gizmos, like people testing out plasma screens, building tiny little structures using microscopes and whatnot. too bad i couldn't take pictures because it was mostly static-free environments.

i was kinda surprised to see quite a number of buildings that were named "shaw building". the image that comes to mind when i hear the name is usually that ghastly looking structure on orchard road. i guess mr shaw had really plonked down a fair chunk of his dough here.
