i'm bored. chronically bored. i've finished the entire 6 seasons of the sopranos 2 weeks ago, wishing there was more. everytime i feel angry i turn to the sopranos, because it calms me down, it makes me forget all my worries, it makes me feel like a gansta, it makes me feel badass. and there's no other new show that even slightly interests me at the moment, other than those which i've faithfully followed before they went into the hiatus. well there is family guy, but that's a whole different vibe. i meant like serious drama, heavy on characters type.
and this is all happening during a period in my life where honestly i have too much free time, and it doesn't help that the cinema is all dried up at this time of year before the summer blockbuster season opens. so like all other faithfuls and purists i turned to television for salvation, only to have shit shoved all over my face with the writers' strike and it's aftermath: at least 3 months of void or even more absurdly, the possibility of having nothing but revolting reality tv before normal schedule resumes (forget re-runs. they don't make money nor raise network ratings). i beg you to not turn to reality tv, you know better - it's like turning away a hot chick and opting for "self-appeasement" instead. 'nuff said.
since there's nothing i can do about it, i've taken the liberty of doing a little bit of research while simultaneously entertaining myself by discovering shows that i haven't seen before and the million back-seasons of god knows how many shows that i missed last year.
so here's the status quo of most of the more popular shows:
- Brothers & Sisters: Returns April 20 with four new episodes.
- Desperate Housewives: Returns April 13 with five new episodes and two-hour finale
- Grey’s Anatomy: Returns April 24 with five new episodes
- Lost: Returns April 24 with five new episodes
- Pushing Daisies: Will return in the fall
- CSI: Returns April 3 with six new episodes; is renewed for fall
- CSI: Miami: Returns March 24 with eight new episodes; is renewed for fall
- How I Met Your Mother: Returns March 17 with nine new episodes
- N.C.I.S.: Returns April 8 with seven new episodes; is renewed for fall
- NUMB3RS: Expected to shoot several new episodes soon
- The Unit: On hiatus
- 30 Rock: Returns April 10
- Heroes: Will likely not produce any further new episodes this season
- Law & Order: Returns April 23
- My Name Is Earl: Returns April 3
- Scrubs: Returns April 10
- The Office: Six or new episodes will begin airing on April 10
- 24: Will return in 2008-09 season
- House: Original episodes return on April 28
- Prison Break: Returns April 23
- The Simpsons: Full season of original episodes continues
so i guess there's really not much i can do other than be patient. it's gonna be a while.
